PPAP DocumentationThe production part approval process, or PPAP for short, is the quality documentation that is used at the start-up of a new part. The primary benefit of the PPAP process is that it allows for the identification of weakness in the production process, and it also sets down guidelines for how the parts are to be produced. Another important part of the PPAP is the clarification to the customer, that certifies we are able to produce consistent product to meet a customer's demands.
The PPAP's provided by RT/Dygert may include several different types of documents:
FMEA: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, this document is designed to identify and correct problem areas before the parts are produced.
Control Plan: The actual documentation on how the part is produced, step by step.
Process Map: A visual representation of the control plan.
Part Submission Warrant: This is an overall summary of the PPAP, along with the approval form.
Typically RT/Dygert can supply a level three PPAP on most parts we sell, and we usually include the above items. However, if requested we can supply material certifications, gauge uncertainty, and statistical data including CpK's.
